In an effort to better serve our clients, we have compiled some brief specifications to assist in preparation of electronic art files. We recommend that you upload your art file(s) to us using the “Send A File” function on our company web site. Have any questions? Please give us a call at 201-641-4121
A. Acceptable File Types
Your file must be either a VECTOR (line art) image or a RASTER (photo) image.
We accept PC based files and can work with virtually any software except Adobe InDesign and Quark Xpress.
Website graphics are almost always unusable due to their low resolution.
We require a minimum resolution of 100-150 dpi at 100% file size or 200-300 dpi at 50% file size on all Raster Based designed and submitted files such as TIF, PSD, JPEG & etc.
Vector images (ie-line art) must have all text or fonts converted to OUTLINES. Many programs offer an option to save or export text as vectors, curves, paths or outlines. Make sure to convert all fonts to outlines, curves or paths to avoid possible font substitution.
C. Color Requirements
If specific color specs are to be achieved on your sign, include Pantone Colors for your files, or provide a hard copy of the approximate colors desired. Premier Banner uses Pantone Matching System (PMS) color specs extensively when color matching is of importance to our client.
D. File Size
Direct Email- file sizes of less than 5MB can be emailed directly to us.
FTP Upload- larger files require use of our ftp site. Total size of all uploaded files to our ftp site should be less than 1 gigabyte.
Remember to not close the the “Send a File” window until after the file has been completely uploaded and you are redirected back to our company webpage.
E. File Preparation and Helpful Notes
Convert all fonts to Outlines/Curves where possible, if not please include all fonts used in File.
Save your design in CMYK MODE, we can also work with RGB files however in some cases there may be color shift.
You can also Design your files at 50% (200-300 dpi) or 25% (400-600 dpi) of final output size.
(Please Indicate final output enlargement size percentage when submitting file).
For the best results on printing Solid Blacks (Excluding text smaller than 30 pt.)use C=30% M=20% Y=20% K=100%.
JPEG files must be saved with maximum quality setting checked.
Banners must have at least 2.5” Bleed (Safety Area for hem and grommet) at final print size.
Live area of the banner should remain within the 2.5” bleed area.
Pole Pockets, If required, allow 4” Bleed area (Safety area) on the sides where pocket poles are
required.
Important note: Please do not place important objects, text and key elements too close to the edge of your banner artwork files as they will be trimmed off, hemmed or grommeted during finishing of your banner. For the best results keep your key elements of your design 2” to 3” inside the edges.
